15 signs a landing page looks AI-generated
These are the defaults that AI site builders and UI templates produce, ranked by how loudly they say "nobody made a decision here". Each comes with a fix. Our free checker looks for all 15 in your page's HTML.
- Indigo-to-violet gradients, a common default accent in AI site builders and UI kits. (12 pts)
Fix: Pick a brand colour that isn't indigo-violet; one accent is plenty. - Headlines filled with a gradient (background-clip: text). (10 pts)
Fix: Use solid text for headlines; let the copy carry it. - Two or more stock hype phrases near the top (supercharge, seamless, unleash, next-level, all-in-one) instead of what the product does. (10 pts)
Fix: Say what it does, for whom, with a number. Cut adjectives. - Emoji at the start of section headings (🚀 Fast, ⚡ Powerful). (8 pts)
Fix: Drop emoji from headings; use real icons or nothing. - Placeholder people and companies left in: John Doe, Sarah Johnson, Acme Inc, "CEO at TechCorp". (8 pts)
Fix: Never ship invented testimonials. - Inter as the only font on the page. (6 pts)
Fix: Pair a distinctive display face with your body font. - Glassmorphism: translucent panels with backdrop blur. (6 pts)
Fix: Flat surfaces read as more confident. - Sparkle icons and ✨ next to anything AI. (6 pts)
Fix: Retire the sparkle; it now signals 'AI made this'. - Big blurred colour blobs glowing behind the hero. (5 pts)
Fix: Remove decorative blobs; use real imagery or whitespace. - "Trusted by thousands" or "Join 10,000+ teams" with no names or numbers you can check. (5 pts)
Fix: Name real customers or real numbers, or leave it out. - A row of three icon + heading feature cards. (4 pts)
Fix: Show the product working (screenshot, demo, numbers) instead of 3 icon cards. - Very large corner radii on almost every box and button. (4 pts)
Fix: Vary radius by element; not every box needs 24px. - A near-black slate hero with a violet glow, straight from the template. (4 pts)
Fix: Choose your own palette, not the template's. - Three or more generic "Get started" / "Start for free" buttons. (4 pts)
Fix: One specific CTA ('Scan my repo') beats three generic ones. - An announcement pill above the headline ("Introducing … →", "✨ New … →"). (4 pts)
Fix: Skip the announcement pill unless there's real news.
Why it matters
These defaults are common now. When yours looks like the template, it is easy to assume the product is one too, and to leave before reading what it does. None of these are wrong on their own; a page that stacks five of them reads as unedited.
